A girl and her cat

The windows are now barely open

The bottom of my curtains are torn

My left arm is covered in scratches

You brought in a cricket indoors

You jiggle your tail when excited

And rest your paws against my toes

You tug at my skin when irritated

And chew on my hair when you’re bored

You cover the screen with your body

So I can’t miss what’s important to me

Your meow is the first thing I hear

When I’m about to turn in the key

You cry and bring your toys in

When I’m about to sleep

Tonight is your last night here

Packing your things is making me weep

These walls will have no life without you

I won’t be around for it to haunt me

I’ll unlock this door in three weeks

And wait for your meow to greet me
