What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?
The next thing would be my phone which I take with me whenever I leave the house.
Apart from the obvious phone calls and the internet, the case holds my debit and credit cards, driver’s licence, security pass, travel card, coffee card and cards I don’t use often. Sometimes I’d slip in a five or ten dollar note but rarely carry cash these days.
I get lost easily, my phone helps with that. I also like taking notes on my phone. I’ve got more than five hundred notes. I use it best for my shopping list and the worst use would be for creating lists of books to read, which I never get around to.
The phone is five years old, the cover is falling apart and when I take pictures, there’s a blurry spot. One of the earliest pictures on my phone of me kissing Mum against the backdrop of a tree.
The only time I don’t want to take the phone outside is when I go for a walk. I don’t like holding the phone in my hand while walking or feeling the weight in my pocket. Today it had to go in my pocket as it was raining. I’ve liked the few times I’ve gone without but then think, what if there’s an emergency? What if I need to buy something? What if something happens to me and they don’t know who I am? I’m only an hour without my phone but can’t seem to go without it.
