My friend had a Tamagotchi, a virtual pet which fascinated me. I don’t remember the colour of the toy or even what kind of pet it was but that you could feed it, play with it and watch it grow.

This was in Pakistan in the late 90s where computers and mobiles weren’t household items. My friend warned me not to overfeed it as it would kill the pet but my curiosity got the better of me. She was unamused.

I don’t know what became of it but in the noughties, I was hooked on another game where I’d play Farmville on Facebook for hours.

I lost interest as you do with things which eat up your time and serve no real value.
